JS, Graphic & WP

This is aworking list of tools I’m exploring for presenting data and working in collaboration

D3 Data-Driven Documents

D3.js is a JavaScript library (by Mike Bostock) for manipulating documents based on data. D3 helps you bring data to life using HTML, SVG and CSS. D3’s emphasis on web standards gives you the full capabilities of modern browsers without tying yourself to a proprietary framework, combining powerful visualization components and a data-driven approach to DOM manipulation. D3 WP looks like a little overkill for me.  input is a CSV file

Kartograph (by Gregor Aisch) is a simple and lightweight framework for building interactive map applications without Google Maps or any other mapping service. It was created with the needs of designers and data journalists in mind. Actually, Kartograph is two libraries. One generates beautiful & compact SVG maps; the other helps you to create interactive maps that run across all major browsers. Kartograph

Rickshaw (d3)

Rickshaw is a JavaScript toolkit for creating interactive time series graphs. It’s all based on d3 underneath, so graphs are drawn with standard SVG and styled with CSS. Customize all you like with techniques you already know. Rickshaw Interactive data, WP via D3 – see above

Flot Attractive JavaScript plotting for jQuery

Flot is a pure JavaScript plotting library for jQuery, with a focus on simple usage, attractive looks and interactive features. FlotI’m testing with WP& MySQL.  The graphs are not interactive.  Commands and data in one page

JIT - Javacript InfoVis Toolkit

The JavaScript InfoVis Toolkit, by Nicolas Garcia Belmonte, provides tools for creating Interactive Data Visualizations for the Web JIT – Javacript InfoVis Toolkit

Sigma.js is an open-source lightweight JavaScript library to draw graphs, using the HTML canvas element. It has been especially designed to:Display interactively static graphs exported from a graph visualization software – like GephiDisplay dynamically graphs that are generated on the fly Sigma.jsIts adapted to network connection graphs nodes, etc.  See programs like  Gephi,

Dygraphs is an open source JavaScript library that produces produces interactive, zoomable charts of time series. It is designed to display dense data sets and enable users to explore and interpret them. Dygraphs

Not WP

  • Handles huge data sets: dygraphs plots millions of points without getting bogged down.
  • Interactive out of the box: zoom, pan and mouseover are on by default.
  • Strong support for error bars / confidence intervals.
  • Highly customizable: using options and custom callbacks, you can make dygraphs do almost anything.
  • dygraphs is highly compatible: it works in all major browsers (including IE8). You can even pinch to zoom on mobile/tablet devices!
  • There’s an active community developing and supporting dygraphs.

Making good-looking graphs shouldn’t be hard. Morris.js is a lightweight library that uses jQuery and Raphaël to make drawing simple charts easy.Dygraphs

Not WP

Grafico is a javascript charting library based on Raphaël and Prototype.js. It is originally developed as Ico by Alex Young  Grafico

Highcharts is a charting library written in pure JavaScript, offering intuitive, interactive charts to your web site or web application. Highcharts currently supports line, spline, area, areaspline, column, bar, pie, scatter, angular gauges, arearange, areasplinerange, columnrange and polar chart types Highcharts

Many Eyes is an experiment brought to you by IBM Research and the IBM Cognos software group. Data visualisation tools from IBM. Site allows users to upload data and then produce graphic representations for others to view and comment upon.ManyEyes

Fusion Tables

Combine data with other data on the web. Collaborate, visualize and share. All your data organization is automatically saved and stored in Google Drive. Fusion Tables

This project is an attempt to build re-usable charts and chart components for d3.js without taking away the power that d3.js gives you. This is a very young collection of components, with the goal of keeping these components very customizeable, staying away from your standard cookie cutter solutions. nvd3

dc.js is a javascript charting library with native crossfilter support and allowing highly efficient exploration on large multi-dimensional dataset (inspired by crossfilter’s demo). It leverages d3 engine to render charts in css friendly svg format. Charts rendered using dc.js are naturally data driven and reactive therefore providing instant feedback on user’s interaction. The main objective of this project is to provide an easy yet powerful javascript library which can be utilized to perform data visualization and analysis in browser as well as on mobile device prg name
